Today I am so excited to introduce you to one of my good friends.

Crystal Collier.

She and I go way back.  I remember  being in some classes with her in Junior High and High school where she would weave the most incredible yarns for me, just to pass the time.  I still remember some of them today.

And now, she has fulfilled her dream of becoming an author!

She's here today to tell us about some crazy experiences on her road to success:

It was that kind of day.

You know what I mean--the kind where milk gets spilled on your carpet, where computers sport the blue screen of death, where all you want to do is curl up in the fetal position, cover your head and chant "I wanted to become a parent" until you believe it.

But then, most days living in New York City were like that. Or at least, living in New York City with two babies, a home schooling six year old, and chain smokers upstairs. Desperately missing my suburban home in Utah, I opened up my email (my one true connection to the world I'd left behind,) and my jaw hit the floor.

"Hello Crystal, I'm intrigued by your book query for TITLE, please tell me more about your vision for this story. --Signed, LITERARY AGENT X."

And that's where it all started. I'd been writing my whole life, but it wasn't until that moment I took myself serious as an author. --And learned how much I DIDN'T know.

It's been years since that magic moment, much flirting with various agents and publishers, and so much writerly education under the bridge... And here's the best part. That book, the one that first garnered a literary agent's attention, that's my published baby, MOONLESS.

Here I stand at the dawn of a dream that carried me through some of the hardest times of my life. It's amazing what you can get through when there's hope on the horizon, and I think the Lord grants us boons to carry us through difficulty. This was mine.

Have you had a similar experience? Some glimmer of hope that pulled you through a tough time?

Alexia’s nightmares become reality: a dead baron, red-eyed wraiths, and forbidden love with a man hunted by these creatures. After an attack close to home, Alexia realizes she cannot keep one foot in her old life and one in this new world. To protect her family she must either be sold into a loveless marriage, or escape with her beloved and risk becoming one of the Soulless.

MOONLESS is Jane Eyre meets Supernatural.

"MOONLESS is powerful, compelling, and packed with soul." --Bethany Kaczmarek, editor at A Little Red, Inc.

"I fell head over heels for the characters." --TC Mckee, BookFish Books

"Power-packed action, heart stopping mystery, unpredictable twists and turns..." --I Am a Reader Not a Writer

Buy MOONLESS HERE or add it on Goodreads.

Crystal Collier, author of MOONLESS, is a former composer/writer for Black Diamond Productions. She can be found practicing her brother-induced ninja skills while teaching children or madly typing about fantastic and impossible creatures. She has lived from coast to coast and now calls Florida home with her creative husband, three littles, and “friend” (a.k.a. the zombie locked in her closet). Secretly, she dreams of world domination and a bottomless supply of cheese.

You can find her on her blog and Facebook, or follow her on Twitter.

Wahoo! Thank you for talking me up, Amy. You're amazing. =)
Wow, that is going way back! LOL

As for a glimmer of hope...In the darkest days after my grandmother's death, I honestly didn't think I could survive the pain. But then I would remember Matt Redman's song, Blessed Be Your Name, which reminds us that even when the darkness closes in, we can praise Him, because He has a plan and is with us always.

So yeah, that was my glimmer of hope. :)
