Do you remember the new born tiredness? The walking dream that seemed to be your life in those first few weeks? That is how yesterday was. I honestly don't remember half of what we did at the house last night. I was bone tired. I eventually ended up falling asleep in a chair. Who sleeps in a chair? I have to be sprawled out on my tummy with a soft pillow to sleep, but sitting upright was good enough for me last night.
Last night as we collapsed onto our bed, we were able to touch. I snuggled up to Jeffrey, resting my head on his arm. It has been so long since I could do that. The nights have been too hot to touch at all. We generally just sprawl on our sides of the bed, careful to not touch which would cause more heat. We sprawl and hope a breeze comes in through the window to cool us. Last night was so sweet in that while being so tired, both in body and spirit, that we could touch. Never underestimate the power of touch.
Also, I don't think our kids can handle much more of it. Thursday morning I went to the house while my mother watched the kids. Keith clung to my leg crying "Don't go Mommy! I want to be with you. Don't go. Let me come with you. I want you!" Faye on the other has decided she wont sleep unless I am holding her. Sure makes for tired nights. Same thing happened yesterday. Just crying and clinging and heart breaking as I left.
The house is very neglected too because I just don't have the energy or time to clean.
But I am not complaining. Because (drum roll) I learned how to hang dry wall last night! Not as fun as I expected. But I did have a lot of fun drilling the screws into the studs. I don't know what it is, but I sure love using power tools. I got to use the circular saw a bit, and now I want one. I am so asking for power tools for my birthday. And the color is making me drool. I wasn't sure before, but the more I see it, the less it looks like a party room at an arcade and more like a stylin' posh magazine kitchen. Well, maybe not an overly popular magazine. Maybe just a local magazine. Maybe just the Amy Household Gazette. But still, it is a sweet magazine. With stylin kitchens. It looks hot. And can you feel the sense of accomplishment? Just ignore where the paint bled through the tape onto the white ceiling. And ignore that the top cupboards are still a dark brown. We figured if the girls want to paint them to match the lower cupboards we would leave them the paint, but we just don't have the time or the energy. Other than that, it is smokin! I would totally date my kitchen if it were possible. But it isn't, so I will just let the girls enjoy it.
