The Fuzzy Weekend

I wanted to participate in a 5K on Saturday.  I got up early, drove a long ways to get there, and pulled into the parking lot just as the first runners were returning.  I missed it!  But the drive wasn't all bad.  I got to see the sun rise, and visit with my sister in law, and we had a nice scone breakfast, so I didn't mind too much.

But later in the day I decided I still wanted to do a 5K.  I figured out that Target was about the right distance from my home, so I set out.  I borrowed a cell phone (because, no we do not own one) and was to call Jeffrey when I arrived.  As I was walking down the street jamming to my tunes (Belle and Sabastian anyone?) tragedy struck.

My glasses fell off my face.  Evidently one ear piece was suffering from metal fatigue and decided it no longer wanted to be a contributing member of the glasses frame.  This presents a major problem because I was just about to the big intersection I needed to cross.  I am blind without my glasses.  Seriously, I think I fall under the legally blind category.  I could not see across the street to the walk signal so had to call Jeffrey to come get me.

It was quite the adventure, I assure you.  But my prescription has changed since Faye was born and I have been wanting contacts again anyway, so really, it is a blessing in disguise.

On another note, I think we are ready for summer.  I went to visit my parents last night and my dad and I decided a fire was necessary to complete our evening.  We ventured into the backyard around the fire pit and roasted marshmallows and eating s'mores whilst my brother serenaded us on the guitar.  The moon was nearly full and Keith ran around singing songs from The Bear in the Big Blue House.  We left smelling delightfully like a campfire, which happens to be one of my favorite scents.

All in all, it was an interesting and wonderful weekend.  I can't wait to see what surprises this week has in store for me.

Oh, and it is official, Jeffrey got a job!  He starts next week and though his schedule is going to be crazy {5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.} we couldn't be happier!

Hurray! And I am so happy for you.

PS. I love that a piece of your glasses no longer wished to be a "contributing member."

Yay for Jeffrey! I hope this job works out great for you guys! That is a funny story about the 5k! I still haven't done one of those. I'm too much a yogi, but I think I'm going to get into that kind of thing soon. With my dietary changes, it has changed my energy levels tremendously and whereas I used to not think that was possible for me, now I can see that it definitely is! Hurrah!

Congrats to Jeff! I'm sure you're very glad to be past the job-searching point. And way to be ambitious and run a 5k anyway. I probably would have just gone back to bed.

Sounds like quite the weekend! Congrats on the job! Yay! and to you on the run! Even though you had some difficulties. I would have shit my pants if I couldn't see. I would have been walking around with my arms out, into traffic. Anybody! Help! As I watched Miss H do her eye exam and getting the news that she is practically blind in one eye, made me very sad and I understand you not seeing without those glasses. Stinks! I love smores! You should have invited! And I'll stop now before I write a whole freaking post on this comment!:) xoxo

Yeah!! So glad he got a job! And while that is early, it will be nice to have in home in the afternoon and for dinner time, etc. In a lot of ways that is a great schedule. My husband usually works about 6 AM- 5:30 or 6:00 PM and he is salary so no over time for all of those hours.

Glad your husband was able to rescue you ;)

how are you?
I have another blog,
welcome for a visit.

Thanks for following me! I appreciated your candor in your response to my post. Yes, I know how hard parenting can be sometimes and those little munchkins can really wrap you around their little fingers can't they?
