The Return of Sanity

It was quite. The dishwasher was running. The washing machine and dryer were running, and two kids were napping.

I didn't know what to do with myself!

I honestly don't remember when the stars aligned like that before. Really. It was such a wonderful feeling.

I started and finished a book over the weekend.

That hasn't happened in a long time, either.

I am thinking when we get our own place again, I am going to have to hire a friend to come tag team with me, because this was just beautiful! I got up and made breakfast. While I was changing diapers, clothes, and feeding the baby, Jeffrey's mother cleaned up breakfast and turned on the dishwasher. We both played with Keith and Faye for a while, and then I put a load of laundry in and she left for work. I gave Keith some lunch, and then put him down for his nap, and the silent clean house was manna to my soul.

This is working out beautifully!

And, I just inherited a beautiful magazine/end table to boot! I can't wait to try out my recipe of milk paint on it this summer! What color should I paint it? But I am loving the old fashioned look, and with old fashioned paint, it is going to be to die for! Again, the fact that I was born in the wrong era is blatantly staring me in the face... but then again, would I ever have quiet moments if I had been born in a time without dishwashers and washers and driers?

I have been doing some crafting lately.

I need to move on and branch out. I find something I can do, and really have a hard time moving on to something new. The first one I made I fell deeply in love with. So I made one for my mother, my mother in law, and my sister in law. They all have February birthdays so it worked out great! But really, my favorite is the first one I made.
I forgot to take pictures of the ones for my in-laws. I was so happy to keep mine. And then I remembered. We draw names for Christmas, and Keith drew his cousin Genna's name. Since we didn't see her around Christmas, and so weren't able to get her gift to her (and I sort of forgot to make one for her) she got the clipboard for Christmas in February. Lucky girl. Now I just have to figure out a new thing to branch out to.

But really, I think crafting is probably the best stress relief for me. When I finish a project I am elated. Really. I am somewhat embarrassed to admit this, but I could hardly sleep when I finished the first clipboard. I was that excited. I thought it darling, and found excuses to use it the next morning. I carried it around the house just because. And now the depth of my derangement is known. I thought about selling the boards, but am still mulling that idea over. I am not sure if anyone would actually buy them.
And now, since it is late and I am tired, I must leave you with good tidings. Tomorrow is National Pancake Day at IHOP. Which translates into free pancakes! Which translates into no dishes to wash, no dinner to fix! Tomorrow we will be eating out. I hope you do too.

No cooking sounds like the best thing since the dishwasher was invented!

I LOVE the clip board you gave me! Erin keeps stealing it from me to use it and I keep stealing it back. It's adorable! Chad's cousin took her crafty stress reliever and turned it into a very successful online business. Her site is It's a great example of how a hobby can blossom. Have fun!

I remember on my mission that Latino families would all live together in one house. I bet they got a lot more done and were less stressed than we who insist on living separately all the time! So what city are you living in now? I'm coming up there next month!

Nice clipboards! I want to see a picture of the end table. To pick a color, I'd have to go with green. Have fun at IHOP!

Having some peace and quiet is such a gift! I'm glad you were able to enjoy it today.

I love the clipboards. Adorable. I am partial to things with initials. It's also my favorite type of gift to give.
