What I Like About You

Someone said that Fall seems to make people wax poetic. I think it is true. I am not sure why, but I just want to rejoice in the fall more and more and more and...

As I was going about my day today, I remembered why I love this time of year so much.

It got really cold today. I turned on the heater for 10 minutes. The smell of the heater took me back to childhood, sitting over the heater watching my nightgown billow as I created a seal around me and the heater. The smell is one of safety, comfort and innocence.

Before I got cold, I sat next to an open window feeling the wind on my face. Cupped in my hands savoring the heat was my mug of hot chocolate. It had ghost marshmallows floating in it, and I know they were smiling at me.

Watching snow fall outside my window while warm and cozy inside. It wasn't snow today, it was hail. Bit it sure looked a lot like snow. Keith stood in the doorway giggling. It made me so happy to hear his joy. He is loving it as much as I do!

Waking up with cool air around my face while I am snug and cozy under the covers.

Hot soup and garlic bread.

Hot showers. I never appreciate them much in the summer, but taking a hot shower during the cold months is happiness in water. It wakes up and soothes the senses.

And one of my absolute favorites is the harvest. Biting into a juicy apple, plucking grapes off a vine or tomatoes out of a garden. Making cobblers to eat with vanilla ice cream, zucchini breads and everything else. Scrumptious!

Basically I go weak in the knees when I am confronted by all the amazing things of the fall. Weak, I tell you. So if I tend to wax poetic, forgive me, it will only last as long as the season (which in UT is generally only two weeks).
