Adventure-Land

All is quiet.

The house is clean, the children are napping, and I find myself in a rare moment of solitude.

Perfect for updating my life, right?

I haven't updated not because I haven't had anything to say, but because I have been so crazy busy.  Just with life, though.  I can't remember why I have been so busy, I just know that this is the first time in a long time that I have been able to sit down.

It feels good.

Really good.

I think I could get used to it.

This week will be fraught with adventures big and small.

The children and I are visiting my brother's family while he and his wife are on a cruise.  This means my kids have friends from the moment they wake up to the moment they close their eyes.  They are ecstatic.  This also means I am in charge of five kids, ages seven and under.

Which quite honestly is fine by me.  I would like to have at least five kids.  This is just practice, right?  And thus far, it has been heaven.  For them and me.  Jeffrey predicted that I will be pulling my hair out by the end of the week, but if today is an indicator, I was made for this job.  Mothering such wonderful little people.  Playing with them, helping them learn and grow is exactly what I want out of this life.  And let's be honest, these little ones are absolutely wonderful.

Our adventures today have consisted in my nephew Bridger running outside while I was changing Faye's diaper, and later knocking on the back door to be let in.  I didn't even know he had gone out!  The doors all remain locked, now.

We decided to go to the grocery store to pick up a few things we forgot in our packing.  I loaded Bridger and my two kids into the van and headed off, planning to be back home before Hannah got out of chool.  Unfortunately, it was an early out day today, and she got home while I was gone, and so went to a friend's house to play.  We got home, I gave the kids lunch and kept watching out the window for her.  Half an hour after she was supposed to be here, I popped the kids back into the van, and we drove to her school.  They told me it was an early out day and helped me make some calls and track her down.  I tell you what, though, it was a very stressful hour.

While the kids are sleeping, I think I will make some banana bread.  Waking up to something baking is one of the best things in the world, I do declare.  Especially if it is something that you can savor when it comes out of the oven.

And now, our past crazy busy weeks in pictures.  Enjoy.

Faye is looking like a stylin' teenage boy in this picture, don't you think?  Makes me laugh every time.

I remember when you used to blog about Faye's birth and look at her now, looking like a stylin' teenage boy! It's just amazing how fast life is going by.

I love visiting your blog and enjoying the tiny perfect moments you blog about.

Love all the pictures. Looks like a fun time at your house. ALthough I can't imagine the panic you felt trying to track down a kiddo. Yikes!
Last weekend I had my sisters girls for a few nights. 6 little ladies 9,6,6,4,2 & 1. It actually was really great. They kept eachother busy & seriously does laughter of giggling girls ever get to be too much. Enjoy & have a great time! :)

I'll be the parents who get to take some time off are grateful as can be! Of course, I'm sure they will return the favor sometime. And that's the beauty of trading babysitting!

WOW, now I see where all the kids come from! :) I think Carson would love to have his cousins play with him too. I think you are a brave woman that many kids make me nervous, but at the same time would be fun.
I look forward to seeing if you become pregnant in the near future! :)
